Rooms and Igloos
Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort offers a range of accommodations, including glass igloos for two or four people, featuring views of the night sky. Two-person igloos include a toilet, with an option for an extra bed. Four-person igloos include a toilet and shower. Showers and saunas are available in separate buildings. Kelo-Glass Igloos accommodate up to six guests and feature a private sauna, fireplace, kitchenette, and a glass roof. Log chalets are available for one to ten guests, designed with a fireplace and sauna. A 60 m2 log chalet made of kelo wood includes a bathroom with a bathtub and sauna, plus an outdoor Jacuzzi on the terrace. Snow igloos provide down sleeping bags for warmth. All accommodations include complimentary Wi-Fi.
Lappish Cuisine
Two onsite restaurants provide à la carte menus featuring local Lappish cuisine. Guests can dine at the traditional Kelo restaurant in the East Village or the West Village Aurora restaurant, which includes a glass igloo bar serving a buffet breakfast. The breakfast includes fresh breads, fruit, porridge, fish, and cereals.
Activities and Excursions
Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort provides a range of activities throughout the year. Winter activities include husky sled rides, reindeer safaris, and snowmobile excursions. Guests can also try ice fishing or visit the Saariselkä ski center, which is 15 minutes away. In the autumn, guests can observe the Northern Lights, hike in Urho Kekkonen National Park, or pick berries and mushrooms. Summer activities include gold panning, visits to a reindeer farm, and cruises on Lake Inari. An icebreaker cruise from Kemi is also available. The resort also hosts an Arctic Art Week in August. Guests can also use the smoke sauna.
Location and Access
Kakslauttanen Arctic Resort is 40 km from Ivalo. The closest airport is Ivalo Airport, a 30-minute shuttle bus ride away. The resort is near Urho Kekkonen National Park and the Kiilopää Fell area. Kakslauttanen occupies two sites separated by the main Lapland highway to the North Cape.
Onsite Services
The resort provides transport to and from Ivalo Airport. A glass-roof bus is available for rent to view the Northern Lights or Midnight Sun. Rental apparel, skis, snowshoes, sleds, and bicycles are available. The resort has gift shops in both the eastern and western villages. For meetings, Santa's Festival Hall can accommodate over 250 guests. Smaller meeting rooms are also available. The resort offers tailored trips and private rentals. The water from the taps in chalets and igloos is some of the cleanest on the planet. A planetarium is available on the premises. Also, professional 570 meters long ice karting circuit is available to the guests.
